It\u2019s the annual lavish affair that makes a fashion critic out of us all\u2014and reportedly sets A-listers back over Dhs240,000 a ticket. Returning in 2025, t<\/span>he Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May, and with it, a flurry of stylish luminaries are set to converge on the Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a> for an exclusive one-night-only extravaganza. <\/span><\/p>\n

As revealed by the Costume Institute\u2014the governing body that oversees the ball\u2014the theme of the 2025 Met Gala has been unveiled, with the subject set to make history<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/span>Ahead, we bring you everything you need to know about the star-studded event, from the theme to the dress code, guest list, and potential outfits we can expect to see.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the theme of the 2025 Met Gala?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Like in previous years, the theme of the Met Gala coincides with the topic of the Costume Institute\u2019s spring exhibition. In 2025, the Met Gala and the exhibition will be themed \u201cSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As per the Metropolitan Museum of Art\u2019s official showcase announcement, the display will \u201cpresent a cultural and historical examination of the Black dandy, from the figure\u2019s emergence in Enlightenment Europe during the 18th century to today\u2019s incarnations in cities around the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Within the gallery, explorations into the \u201cimportance of sartorial style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora\u201d will unfold through significant archival garments, artworks, film excerpts and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme itself draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller\u2019s 2009 book <\/span>Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. <\/span><\/i>Miller, who is currently Chair and Professor of Africana Studies at Columbia University\u2019s Barnard College, will serve as guest curator in the first dedicated menswear exhibition in twenty years. (The last time men\u2019s fashion was solely presented was in 2003\u2019s \u201cBraveheart: Men in Skirts\u201d.)<\/span><\/p>\n
