As the world mourns for the passing of Pope Francis, two of the region’s most prominent women, Her Majesty Queen Rania<\/a> and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser,<\/a> have shared their heartfelt tributes honouring his legacy.<\/p>\n

Taking to their respective social media pages, the two Arab royals expressed their condolences for the Pope, with whom they shared a deep connection due to their outspoken commitment to the people of Palestine and humanity.<\/p>\n

Sheikha Moza shared on Instagram with her 1.4 million followers saying: “With the passing of Pope Francis, the global community has lost a great champion of just causes.”<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her previous discussions with the late Pope, she further reminisced, “In my conversations with His Holiness, I felt the depth of his mercy, his kindness, and his compassion for the weak and oppressed.<\/p>\n

“He shared my deep concerns about the refugee crisis and the protection of education in conflict zones. He promoted interfaith dialogue to address global challenges.”<\/p>\n

The Qatari royal also looked back at the Pope’s final plea for Gaza: “Pope Francis will be remembered for his honourable stance in his final plea ‘for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip’ and for the world to ‘come to the aid of a starving people that aspires to a future of peace.'”<\/p>\n

“I trust that the legacy of his wisdom endures within the Vatican and beyond,” she concluded.<\/p>\n

While Queen Rania<\/a>, who expressed her sorrows on X (previously Twitter), she wrote, “In a world that can often feel heartless, Pope Francis always had love to spare.”<\/p>\n

She recognised his constant effort for the people of Palestine, she wrote: “Pope Francis always had love to spare for the less fortunate, refugee families, and children in war zones, in Gaza and around the world.”<\/p>\n

The Jordanian royal further said and concluded, “Humanity has lost an invaluable champion for peace and compassion today.
