The Oscars red carpet is the stage where both film and fashion history is made. For nearly a century, the Academy Awards has given us some of the most unforgettable red carpet moments<\/a>: Audrey Hepburn\u2019s Givenchy gown in 1954, Cher\u2019s show-stopping Bob Mackie ensemble in 1986, and Lupita Nyong\u2019o\u2019s Cinderella-blue Prada in 2014. It\u2019s an evening for the world\u2019s biggest stars to collaborate with the most revered designers for fresh-off-the-runway looks, custom creations or archival wonders that bring a sense of history to the occasion.<\/p>\n

This year, as the 97th Academy Awards<\/a> unfolds at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the anticipation is as much about the fashion as it is about the films. Will Wicked<\/em><\/a> co-stars Cynthia Erivo<\/a> and Ariana Grande<\/a> continue their streak of theatrical method-dressing glamour? Will Mikey Madison, one of this awards season’s favourite new fashion darlings, deliver another standout moment? And will Demi Moore<\/a> opt for a sartorial nod to her gorey role in The Substance<\/em>?<\/p>\n

While the Oscars traditionally calls for timeless glamour, this year has seen daring style take centre stage, calling upon nominees to step up their game with boundary-pushing looks.<\/p>\n
