Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser<\/a>, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, opened the Jadal summit in Qatar\u2019s first-ever female-led mosque to engage in thoughtful discussions.<\/p>\n

Launching this summit is an intellectual gathering designed to amplify the voices of Muslim women in public life.<\/p>\n

Hosted at Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women, which opened in February 2024, the three-day event has drawn over 100 delegates from across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Among those in attendance was Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, daughter of Sheikha Moza, whose appearance reinforced Jadal\u2019s significance in shaping global conversations about women\u2019s roles in contemporary Muslim societies.<\/p>\n

More than just a summit, Jadal\u2014which translates to dialogue in Arabic\u2014is a platform for conversations led by some of the most esteemed Muslim women scholars, researchers, and practitioners.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme, Muslim Women in Public Life, unfolds through three core discussions: Muslim Women and the Law, Women\u2019s Lives and History, and Muslim Women\u2019s Well-Being and Health.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough Jadal, we honor the Quranic concept of jadal as praised by Allah in Surat Al-Mujadilah and embodied in the story of Khawla bint Tha\u2019laba,\u201d Sheikha Moza said on her official website.<\/p>\n

Khawla bint Tha\u2019laba\u2014a woman who stood before the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and engaged in dialogue to advocate for her rights\u2014serves as the inspiration behind Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque. Her legacy is woven into the very fabric of this summit, a space where faith, knowledge, and advocacy come together to drive meaningful change.<\/p>\n

Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the wife of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, is a fashion icon regionally and globally and a keen philanthropist.<\/p>\n

She is well known for serving as the Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). The matriarch has also participated in many key development projects, nationally and internationally, such as the International Fund for Higher Education in Iraq in 2003 and the Reach Out to Asia Foundation in 2005, which promotes education in Asia and the Middle
