Never idle in the moments where injustice prevails, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi<\/a>, Mother of the Nation, has always stood her ground to support those in need.<\/p>\n

Taking matters into her own hands, HH Sheikha Fatima, Chairwoman of the General Women\u2019s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, has donated an astonishing $20 million (Dhs73 million) to the “UAE stands with Lebanon” campaign.<\/p>\n

The campaign which is directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, is a nationwide initiative where communities across the Emirates, whether private, public, or individual, aim to provide support as much as necessary to aid the people of Lebanon.<\/p>\n

This initiative which started on October 8, 2024, has already shown significant interest from the UAE residents. Just over the weekend, the campaign has raised over 400 tonnes of relief aid, encompassing basic necessities, food and others.<\/p>\n

The Sheikha’s effort in these troubling times proves her continuous advocacy for humanity remains headstrong.<\/p>\n

Who is Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi?<\/h2>\n

Sheikha Fatima was born in 1943 in Al Ain. She married Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan in 1960. Eleven years later, in 1971, the United Arab Emirates was formed with the unification of the seven emirates, and her husband Sheikh Zayed was the inaugural president of the UAE, making him known as the \u201cFather of the UAE\u201d and, in turn, Sheikha Fatima the \u201cMother of the UAE\u201d.<\/p>\n

Taking on a leading female role in the UAE, Sheikha Fatima has gone on to be an advocate for women\u2019s education and rights over the last four decades.<\/p>\n

She founded the UAE\u2019s first organisation devoted to advancing women\u2019s equality and advancement in 1975, leading the nation\u2019s women\u2019s movement. Sheikha Fatima has been the chair of the General Women\u2019s Union (GWU)<\/a> since its founding when several new women\u2019s organisations joined together under her direction and
