From the weathered shores of Sydney<\/a> to the cobbled avenues of Paris<\/a>, Nicky Zimmermann transports us with a sun-soaked Spring\/Summer 2025 offering, inspired by the cult 70s surf film Morning of the Earth<\/em><\/a>. Titled \u2018Illumination\u2019, the show<\/a> evoked the film\u2019s idyllic portrayal of harmony between humans and the elements. \u201cThe way [the film] captures the golden morning light and the colour of nature is just so inspiring,\u201d Zimmermann reflected. \u201cWe leant into the aesthetics of the film more than surf itself\u2014the irresistible way the film captures dappled light, the flowing movement of the sea and that feeling of harmony between surfer and nature.\u201d Drawing from childhood memories spent watching surf films projected in Southern Sydney\u2019s town halls, the designer felt compelled by the portrayal of freedom.<\/p>\n

Beyond just surf culture, this collection captured the gentle interplay of light, sea, and earth, capturing the natural awe that inspires so much of what we create. We see this motion in the flowing silhouettes and fluid textures that mirror the ocean\u2019s ebb and flow, as soft fabrics and hand-braided details in warm, neutral tones recall the organic forms of sand, water, and wind. The collection becomes a sensory journey, where waves manifest in textures, and sunlight finds form in soft pastel palettes and ambient hues. A combination of untreated cotton lace, wooden beads, and natural fibres grounds these diaphanous silhouettes with a tactile connection to the Earth.<\/p>\n

Zimmermann\u2019s vision for Spring\/Summer 2025<\/a> is further realised through poetic contrasts. Drill utility pieces paired nonchalantly with agate prints and sunset tones, while scuba-panelled bodysuits and sculptural thong heels elevate the typical carefree surf aesthetic.<\/p>\n

The accessories tell another story of their own. Think beaded scarves, turquoise gems, and dolphin motifs, all reflecting serene mornings spent by the sea, waking to the rhythmic swells of the waves.<\/p>\n

From the glimmers of sunlight on the water’s surface to the crunch of sea-soaked hair, this collection combines the warming glow of nostalgia with the brand’s signature polish\u2014packed with the ornate detail that has seen Zimmermann take over the global fashion scene. As per her notes, this is a collection for the woman whose life is in flow, those who can at once be in touch with the natural world while embracing bold glamour.<\/p>\n
