A woman who knows no bounds and continues to drive change is Her Highness\u00a0Sheikha Asma Al Thani of Qatar.<\/a><\/p>\n

Nothing short of achievements and reminders of her compelling determination to reach new heights (figuratively and literally), the Qatari royal<\/a> has yet again proved her legacy is truly leaving a mark for women.<\/p>\n

As a trailblazing champion, the Sheikha, alongside other officials of the Qatar Olympic Committee, is climbing up the global ladder to take on new roles in the world of sports.<\/p>\n

Taking the mantle as Vice President of the Gender Equality Committee at the Olympic Council of Asia\u2014also known as the OCA, the Sheikha is now set to take the global stage in support of balancing opportunities between genders.<\/p>\n

A Record-Breaking Expedition On Mount Everest<\/h3>\n

The young Sheikha embarked up Everest\u2019s Lhotse Face<\/a> for the second time, making history by becoming the first Arab person to climb two mountain peaks exceeding 8,000 metres high without an oxygen device.<\/p>\n

Adding another record-breaking achievement to her illustrious list of accolades, she managed to make history as the first Qatari woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest \u2013 the highest mountain peak in the world, standing at 8,849 metres tall.<\/p>\n

On her recent expedition up Mount Everest in May 2024, Sheikha Asma shared: \u201cStanding here as the only Arab and the first Arab to conquer two 8000-meter peaks without oxygen fills me with immense pride and joy.”<\/p>\n

Further expressing her journey as a path of relentless determination, resilience, and faith, she said, “Each step was a testament to the power of perseverance and the human spirit.”<\/p>\n

Who is Sheikha Asma Al Thani?<\/h2>\n

She\u2019s a member of the ruling family of Qatar<\/a>\u00a0and is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Qatar Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n

Boasting a long list of achievements, the Sheikha is an inspiration to all women in the region. In 2012, she reached the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to help raise QR 2 million for building schools in Gaza.<\/p>\n

She was the first Qatari to reach the North Pole on April 21 2018. After skiing for eight days, she raised the Qatari flag at the top of the North Pole.<\/p>\n

Aside from her undeterred sports spirit, she’s also a figure that people look up to with her philanthropic efforts. After reaching the summit of Mount Everest in June 2022, Sheikha Asma Al Thani marked the occasion by partnering with The UNHCR to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of
