Emily In Paris<\/em><\/a> star Ashley Park, who plays the bubbly Mindy, says she was late to filming her scenes in season four<\/a> due to a sepsis diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s wild to watch [season four] back and to know what I was going through,\u201d the 33-year-old told Good Morning America<\/a><\/em>. \u201cBut sometimes the most challenging times of your life, when you persevere through it, become the most rewarding.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a big mental and physical struggle for me,\u201d she continues. \u201cI love when people come up and say, \u2018This show really lifted me out of a hard time\u2019\u2026 I experienced that first-hand. Just showing up to work and being in Mindy\u2019s shoes\u2014or stilettos\u2014and the cast and crew, especially Lily Collins and Paul Forman, being so supportive\u2026It felt like a family there to support you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sepsis is a serious condition where the body responds improperly to an infection. Park\u2019s battle began with a bout of tonsillitis at the beginning of the year and, as per her Instagram post<\/a> on January 20, spiralled into critical septic shock and infected and affected several of her organs.<\/p>\n

During the interview with the morning show, Park broke down in tears watching a scene where Mindy sings a song on the streets of Rome<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was my last day of filming\u2026 I think it\u2019s a magical thing when the words that you\u2019re singing as a character really match what you\u2019re feeling on the inside,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s about highs and lows and finding something beautiful in devastation and ruins or heartbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n

In exciting news, Emily In Paris<\/em> will return for a fifth season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmily\u2019s going to have a presence in Rome,\u201d said creator and producer Darren Star. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019s not going to be in\u00a0Paris<\/a>, but she\u2019s going to have a presence in Rome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily In Paris<\/em> Season four, part one and two, is streaming now on Netflix.<\/p>\n
