Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has officially dropped the ‘Pitt’ from her name after filing to have it removed earlier this year when she turned 18.\u00a0The daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will now legally be known as just Shiloh Jolie after a court granted her the modification.<\/p>\n

The petition had been postponed since July after a court delayed her hearing due to an incomplete background check.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check ahead of today’s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19,” her lawyer, Peter Levine, explained at the time in a statement obtained by People<\/em><\/a> magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Everyone undergoing a name-change request needs to have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and because of clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been continued to a new date.”<\/p>\n

Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, shared five other kids<\/a> together; Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15. While her siblings have not taken the same step, Shiloh\u2019s name change comes after a source told People<\/em> that Pitt has “virtually no contact” with his adult children<\/a>, but still has some visitation with his younger children, following his divorce from Jolie<\/a>\u00a0in 2016.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Levine also spoke of Shiloh’s \u201csignificant decision\u201d, and why she approached it the way that she did after the family published her new name, per the state’s legal protocol.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe media should be more careful in their reporting,\u201d Levine urged. \u201cEspecially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events and is merely following a legal process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neither Jolie or Pitt have publicly spoken about the move, but a source<\/a> has shared that Pitt is “aware and upset” about the
