Blake Lively has shared images from the set<\/a> of the upcoming sequel to the stylish crime thriller, <\/span>A Simple Favour<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Rather than shooting on a Hollywood studio backlot, the adventures of her martini-drinking and \u00fcber-stylish housewife-on-the-run character have taken the actress to the island of Capri<\/a> in Italy, with a glimpse of the upcoming release also an invite into Lively\u2019s Italian holiday wardrobe. <\/span><\/p>\n

While the balmy temperatures of Euro Summer might have you thinking the mother-of-four would lean into the \u2018la dolce vita<\/a>\u2019 essence of the tomato girl aesthetic<\/a>, Lively instead chose to take cues from Valentino creative director<\/a> Alessandro Michele\u2019s maximalist design ethos<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A lesson in contrasts, Lively donned an ensemble we\u2019d likely see a chic Nonna wear to a long lunch at her local trattoria<\/a>. The outfit consisted of a vintage Chanel jacket in yellow tweed, the French Maison’s raffia flap bag, a Breton-striped cardigan emblazoned with sun-shaped brooches, ripped and patchwork denim embroidered with floral motifs and leopard print loafers from Christian Louboutin. No mob wives here<\/a>, indeed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On another occasion, she wore a similar silhouette, instead pairing her coat with classic blue jeans folded at the hem, a brown sweatshirt accented with a screen-printed pink flower, white Chanel loafers and a rainbow crochet purse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Like Milanese fashion matriarch Miuccia Prada once famously quipped: \u201cEvery single morning I have to decide if I am a 15-year-old girl or an old lady near to death.\u201d In a melange of prints and vintage pieces, it\u2019s clear Lively chose the latter. Of course, if the coastal grandmother<\/a> trend is any indication, fashion is shifting focus from girlhood to the later stages of womanhood and the eclectic energy stylish seniors embody.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not apparent if these looks are courtesy of the costume department or her own resort pieces. Nevertheless, Lively\u2019s time in Italy certainly proves her allegiance to a vein of eccentricity and romanticism not allowed in the reign of quiet luxury. As we\u2019ve seen from her recent press tour for <\/span>It Ends With Us<\/span><\/i>, it’s undisputed that we\u2019ll ever see the actress in something decidedly minimal, given her past looks include a fresh-from-the-runway Chanel suit<\/a> and laser-cut hibiscus Valentino jeans worth $28,000AUD.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
