According to reports, Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle are embroiled in a feud with David and Victoria Beckham<\/a>, as a revelatory new book alleges deep tension between the two couples.<\/p>\n

As per royal biographer Tom Bower, the Duchess of Sussex<\/a> and Posh Spice fell out over requests for free clothing from Victoria\u2019s eponymous fashion line, makeup tips and a \u201csnubbing\u201d during a visit to Australia\u2014accounts that seemingly cultivated in the Beckhams being accused of leaking stories to the press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite the former pop star and footballer attending Sussexes’ 2018 wedding in Windsor Castle, Bower posits that a rift had begun to transpire in the lead-up to the nuptials. He claims that this divide was due to the Suits<\/em> alumni’s irritation with the Beckhams\u2019 fortune.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Meghan\u2019s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame,\u201d Bower writes<\/a>. \u201cAs a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[Meghan] was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.\u201d<\/p>\n

The unofficial biography also alleges that Meghan felt she had \u201clittle in common\u201d with Victoria. (Unlike the Spice Girl, Meghan\u2019s dad did not drive a Rolls-Royce.) But if reports are to be believed, this didn\u2019t stop the American Riviera Orchard founder from requesting free clothes (reportedly worth Dhs27,000<\/a>) from Beckham\u2019s label. As the royal\u2019s strict style rules disavowed them from accepting gifts,Meghan\u2019s request was \u201cvetoed by the Palace\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bower supposes the friction between the pair heightened when they were not requested to attend their wedding dinner, having only received an invite to the ceremony.<\/p>\n

He suggests the final straw in their fractured relationship was when Prince Harry ignored David after he flew 22 hours to Sydney to attend the 2018 Invictus Games at the Spare author\u2019s request.<\/p>\n

Reports of their disagreement recirculated in August 2023 after reports proposed the six-time English captain was \u201cabsolutely bloody furious\u201d after it was suggested they had shared private details with reporters. At the time, a source had claimed: \u201cany making up now is so unlikely\u201d. Now, almost a year on and on the eve of this damning book\u2019s release, it\u2019s apparent this statement might be more true than ever.<\/p>\n

Victoria had previously sung Meghan\u2019s praises, calling her a \u201cgenuinely lovely woman\u201d in an interview with the UK\u2019s Evening Standard<\/em>. It was also reported by Vanity Fair<\/em> <\/a>that Beckham had helped Meghan become acquainted with some of the British Isles\u2019 best designers and regularly sought her advice on what to wear.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeghan really likes Victoria\u2019s style<\/a> and was keen to pick her brains about pulling together a working wardrobe,\u201d they said. Meghan famously wore VB\u2019s designs for her final royal outing at the 2020 Endeavour Fund Awards.
