She promotes arts in the country<\/h3>\n

She is the President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, the independent public arts organisation she established in 2009. Starting the entity, the Sharjah royal\u2019s aim was to advocate for the arts, in Sharjah, UAE, and globally and she has carried on that pursuit for decades now.<\/p>\n

Since its inception, Sheikha Hoor has expanded the foundation’s scope to include major international touring exhibitions and artist residencies for visual art, film, as well as music.<\/p>\n

she’s the creative director of a global fashion brand<\/h3>\n

Sheikha Hoor is the creative director of global fashion brand Qasimi, which is currently based in London. The label was founded by Sheikha Hoor’s twin brother, Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, in 2015. From its launch, the aim of the brand was to craft understated garments reflecting the fashion house’s Middle Eastern roots. In 2019, Sheikh Khalid passed away in London and subsequently Sheikha Hoor took on the role as creative director of Qasimi to preserve her brother’s legacy.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s advocating for ARTs globally<\/h3>\n

In May 2024, Sheikha Hoor was appointed as the Artistic Director of the Biennale of Sydney, which is set to take place from March 7 to June 8, 2026. Sheikha Hoor is expected to engage with local communities, artists, and academics while utilising her global network she has developed over the years to bring the 25th edition of the Biennale to life.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is an honour and privilege to be nominated and then selected to be the Artistic Director of the 25th Biennale of Sydney, which I have been visiting for over a decade now. I have seen the developments over the years, including the amplification of Indigenous voices both local and global, which has made it an essential platform for rewriting art history,\u2019 she said in an Instagram caption for Sharjah Art Foundation.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s an honorary degree holder<\/h3>\n

Adding to her list of accolades, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in the UK at a ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, in 2023. The gesture was in recognition of her continuous support towards creatives and artistic practices across the UAE.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s while attending the historic release of the first 17 volumes of the Historical Corpus of the Arabic Language the first-of-its-kind project to chronicle 17 centuries of development in the Arabic language by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi or inaugurating the building of the Kalba Ice Factory, Sheikha Hoor continues to support and accompany her father during official events.<\/p>\n
