It\u2019s never all that surprising when a celebrity steps out in cosy clothes. In fact, when they\u2019re not hitting the red carpet in couture, sweats are generally their chosen attire. But there is a social contract that even the rich and famous must observe, and that line is footwear. So, when our style queen Rihanna was photographed leaving her hotel in New York City wearing just socks sans shoes, it teased an unexpected trend.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, it turned out the Fenty<\/a> founder was not<\/strong> walking around the Upper East Side in just her socks and was actually wearing a designer pair of boots made to look the part\u2014very billionaire<\/a> behaviour, if you ask us.<\/p>\n

Are we surprised? Not really. Fashion and Hollywood have held a long affair with the offbeat shoe. From the return of UGG boots<\/a> and Crocs<\/a> to Margiela Tabis<\/a> and clear shoes<\/a>, the best kinds of statements are served from the ground up.<\/p>\n

For her latest look, Rihanna wore a matching blue and white athleisure set from AWAKE NY, paired with a Dior saddle bag in a blue camo print and Bottega Veneta\u2019s \u2018Domenica\u2019 boots<\/a>, which many mistook for woollen socks. With a slouched knitted cotton body and leather soles, they\u2019re reminiscent of the sock-shoe hybrid slippers you roam your home\u2019s halls in, only at Dhs3,800, they\u2019re a little bit more of an investment.<\/p>\n

If anyone can convince us to bite the bullet, though, it\u2019s Rihanna.<\/p>\n
