It\u2019s rare for a celebrity figure to give real insight into their personal struggles. But Sophie Turner\u2014the<\/em> beautiful, smart and funny Sophie Turner<\/a>\u2014is the exception to this rule. In a new interview,<\/a> the 28-year-old Games Of Thrones<\/em> actor has opened up about her tumultuous split and divorce<\/a> from musician Joe Jonas.<\/p>\n

The couple split in September 2023 after four years married and two daughters. Soon after, Jonas reportedly filed for divorce without Turner\u2019s knowledge and the pair became embroiled in an extremely public custody battle over Willa, who is almost four, and Delphine, who turns two in July.<\/p>\n

But it was the rumours that began percolating and the headlines that began circulating\u2014the toxic ones that played into the wayward-mother-who-loves-to-party trope\u2014that began taking a toll on Turner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, those were the worst few days of my life,\u201d Turner remembers. \u201cThere were some days that I didn\u2019t know if I was going to make it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was contracted to be on set [of new film Joan<\/em><\/a>] for another two weeks, so I couldn\u2019t leave,\u201d she continued. “My kids were in the States and I couldn\u2019t get to them because I had to finish Joan<\/em>. And all these articles started coming out\u200a\u2026It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother \u2013 mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, \u2018None of this is true. You are a good mum and you\u2019ve never been a partier.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Leaning on her family, her close friends<\/a> and her lawyer, Turner tried desperately to reset her mindset.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would call my lawyer saying, \u2018I can\u2019t do this. I just can\u2019t.\u2019 I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself,\u201d Turner said. \u201cAnd then, finally, after two weeks of me being in a rut, she reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for. Once anyone says to me, \u2018Do it for your kids,\u2019 I\u2019m doing it. I wouldn\u2019t do it for myself, but I\u2019ll find the strength for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turner even details how she thought she may have to take medication to help combat her anxiety but \u201csurprisingly\u201d didn\u2019t need to. Now back at home in the UK, and with a new love interest<\/a>, the actor says she\u2019s \u201cthe happiest I\u2019ve been in a really long time. I\u2019m starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with.\u201d<\/p>\n
