Playing Penelope Featherington on the hit historic romance Netflix series, Nicola Coughlan is the Irish-born lead who is continuing to show her unwavering support for Palestine. Wearing the Artists4Ceasefire<\/a> pin across multiple press events, she has joined the efforts to end the ongoing devastation in Gaza.<\/p>\n

Unapologetic in her activism, she utilises her Instagram platform of three million followers<\/a> to continue her advocacy process.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Teen Vogue<\/em><\/a>, the actress opened up about warnings she has received from fellow peers in the industry about speaking up for Palestinian rights.<\/p>\n

“You do get told, \u2018You won\u2019t get work,\u2019 \u2018You won\u2019t do this,\u2019” she revealed. “But I also think, deep down, if you know that you\u2019re coming from a place of \u2018I don\u2019t want any innocent people to suffer,\u2019 then I\u2019m not worried about people\u2019s reactions.\u201d<\/p>\n

She explained that coming from a place of privilege, she feels a “moral responsibility” to speak up for those who are not.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important to me because firstly, I\u2019m a very privileged person,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cI\u2019m so lucky I\u2019ve gotten to this point in my career, and I\u2019m privileged as a white woman, first off. Then the fact that I get to do the job I love and travel the world and meet amazing people, I feel a moral responsibility to give back.”<\/p>\n

She added: “To me it always becomes about supporting all innocent people, which sounds oversimplified, but I think you\u2019ve got to look at situations and just think, Are we supporting innocent people no matter where they\u2019re from, who they are? That\u2019s my drive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unwavering in her voice, Nicola Coughlan seems to remain consistent in her work for Palestine. Calling for the safety and care of all the innocent, she continues to lend her voice for the betterment of
