In exciting news, Maison Valentino<\/a> has announce today the appointment of Alessandro Michele<\/a> as the House\u2019s new Creative Director, effective April 2. Michele, who most recently held the top job at Gucci for seven years<\/a>, will replace the beloved Pierpaolo Piccioli who was at the helm of the Maison since 2016 and within the company for 25 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible honour for me to be welcomed at Maison Valentino,\u201d Michele says. \u201cI feel the immense joy and the huge responsibility to join a Maison de Couture that has the word \u2018beauty\u2019 carved on a collective story, made of distinctive elegance, refinement and extreme grace.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, I search for words to nominate the joy, to regard it, to really convey what I feel: the smiles that kick from the chest, the bliss of gratitude that lights up the eyes, that precious moment when necessity and beauty reach out and meet. Joy, though, is such a living thing that I\u2019m afraid to hurt it if I dare to speak its name.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chairman of Valentino, Rachid Mohamed Rachid, praised Michele\u2019s profound intelligence and the experience he will bring to the role.<\/p>\n

It was last week that, after 25 years at Valentino\u2014eight of which were spent at its helm\u2014creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli would step down from his post to make way for \u201ca new creative organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Maison and Piccioli announced the parting of ways in joint statement released to the world on March 23. In his time at the top, the latter significantly shaped and deftly modernised the house\u2019s trajectory with a technical skill evidenced in his spectacular couture collections<\/a> (never forget Chantilly<\/a>) and ready-to-wear<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been in this company for 25 years, and for 25 years I\u2019ve existed and I\u2019ve lived with the people who have woven the weaves of this beautiful story that is mine and ours,\u201d Piccioli began. \u201cEverything existed and exists thanks to the people I met, with whom I worked, with whom I shared dreams and created beauty, with whom I built something that belongs to all, and that remains immutable and tangible. This heritage of love, dreams, beauty and humanity, I carry it with me, today and forever.<\/p>\n

Jacopo Venturini, Valentino\u2019s CEO also released a statement.<\/p>\n

Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Chairman of the Maison extended his thanks to Piccioli.<\/p>\n
