Opened just six months ago by the team behind <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/the-stay-safe-supper-club-la-cantine-du-faubourg\/\">La Cantine Du Faubourg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/stay-safe-supper-club-twiggy-la-cantine\/\">Twiggy by La Cantine<\/a>, the Portuguese restaurant has been serving up authentic dishes to neighbourhood foodies and travellers (as in, the other side of SZR) alike. We heard great things so, naturally, we had to see for ourselves. Upon entering Lana Lusa, you would be forgiven for thinking you had just walked into DIFC; the stunning interiors are oh-so-chic without losing its intimate, homey feel. Currant-coloured walls are adorned with artwork while airy linen curtains and lush greenery complete the space.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4412\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Artboard-130.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/>Once we grabbed our seat, the friendly and knowledgeable \u2013 and <em>actually<\/em> Portuguese \u2013 manager Ruben drove our culinary experience, recommending an abundance of authentic dishes. For starters we decided on the marinated octopus; salted codfish with seabass and avocado; saut\u00e9ed clams in olive oil and garlic; codfish croquette; tempura green beans; and rump cap saut\u00e9ed in mustard and pickles. The starters are on the smaller side which means you can sample multiple dishes without being overwhelmed and can share with the table (as much as you won\u2019t want to). Our stand-outs were the salted codfish with seabass and avocado which was bright and bursting with refreshing citrus, as well as the marinated octopus in a rich tomato sauce (made even more delicious when piled atop freshly baked bread) and the unbelievably moreish tempura green beans. We complimented our dishes with the signature Lusa Spritz mocktail \u2013 if you have never had cucumber water before then it is a must-try \u2013 and a Ma\u00e7\u0101 Salgada: a blackcurrant hibiscus iced tea with lemongrass.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4410\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4410\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4410\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/PHOTO-2020-12-07-17-07-20-2.jpg\" alt=\"Lana Lusa Stay-Safe Supper Club\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Saut\u00e9ed clams in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and coriander<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For mains we ordered the gratinated codfish with potatoes and the signature braised monkfish with rice, peppers and tomatoes. While the codfish was pleasant, the braised monkfish was the winner here; a hearty, feel-good stew that will definitely be our go-to dish come winter.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4413\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4413\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4413 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/DSC03010.jpg\" alt=\"Lana Lusa The Stay-Safe Supper Club\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1280\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4413\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hearty, family style dishes is the name of the game at Lana Lusa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Of course, no visit to Lana Lusa is complete without the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/search\/?search=stay%20safe&amp;tags=stay%20safe\">Dubai-famous<\/a> past\u00e9is de natas; Portuguese tarts with a flaky golden crust, decadent custard filling and br\u00fbl\u00e9ed top. Throughout the evening, hungry pastry-lovers frequented the counter and picked up pastries to go, worrying us that we may miss out. Needless to say, we subsequently ordered six in a to-go box.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4414\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4414\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4414\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/DSC06718.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4414\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Don&#8217;t leave without trying the past\u00e9is de natas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whether you choose to visit for <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/8-of-the-most-instagrammable-breakfast-spots-in-dubai\/\">breakfast on the terrace<\/a>, a cosy date night or leisurely lunch \u2013 or even a past\u00e9is de nata and a cuppa &#8211; Lana Lusa is a low-key all-rounder that will have you leaving happy (with a slightly tighter waistband) every time.
