If Dua Lipa’s auburn grunge hairstyle<\/a> wasn\u2019t enough to prove the British songstress is entering a new era<\/a>, her latest off-duty look will.<\/p>\n

With the pop supernova out and about in London<\/a> to promote her upcoming single \u201cHoudini<\/a>\u201d\u2014a track written Kevin Parker of Tame Impala\u2014the star has laid the foundation for a ’70s psychedelia uniform.<\/p>\n

Rather than embrace the kaleidoscopic prints or \u201cgroovy\u201d silhouettes of yore, Lipa is putting her signature slinky spin on the era and looking to one of the biggest beauty trends of 2023 to do so.<\/p>\n

While attending local radio stations, Lipa put her pop star spin<\/a> on cherry cola lips<\/a> by injecting the saccharine trend into fashion\u2019s lexicon.<\/p>\n

The beauty trend emerged during the Northern Hemisphere\u2019s summer as a darker antidote to quintessential Americana, drawing inspiration from cherry cola soft drinks. The trend boasts over 79.3 million views on TikTok, but the Lana Del Rey<\/a>-influenced look was never explored in a sartorial form until now.<\/p>\n

Lipa leaned into the burgundy palette with a buttery-leather Bottega Veneta pouch<\/a> and glossy Bordeaux croc boots. Taking cues from Princess Diana\u2019s royal-on-the-run style<\/a>, the recent Barbie<\/em><\/a> star tucked a pair of light-wash denim into the calf-grazing boots.<\/p>\n

Lipa completed the look with a Jim Morrison-esque white fur coat, combining elements of the golden age of Rock\u2019n\u2019Roll with her trademark Future Nostalgia<\/em> fashion taste. A look that is both contemporary yet influenced by heritage aesthetics.<\/p>\n

Lipa\u2019s first official outing under the \u2018DL3\u2019 mode\u2014a term her fans have coined in reference to her next body of work\u2014came in late October.<\/p>\n

Lipa appeared at an honourary event for Greta Gerwig in Los Angeles in a black leather dress from Gucci\u2019s 2024 Resort collection<\/a>\u2014the last for the Italian Maison before creative director Sabato De Sarno<\/a> took over the reins.<\/p>\n

Much can be said about Lipa\u2019s new style, purely because the period is still in its infancy. But based on what we\u2019ve seen so far, it will be one dripping in chic sleaze<\/a>.<\/p>\n
