Actress<\/a>, author,<\/a> activist and fashion muse<\/a> Pamela Anderson has revealed the sad reason she no longer wears full glam, instead opting for a more stripped back, bare-faced look. After her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2019, Anderson abandoned her signature beauty vibe; pencilled-in brows, over-lined lips, dark eyeliner, and her iconic up-do.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it\u2019s just better for me not to wear makeup,\u201d Pamela, 56, told Elle<\/em><\/a> in a new interview. \u201c[The new look] is freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too. Because I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it\u2019s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone\u2019s doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we all start looking a little funny when we get older,\u201d she adds. \u201cAnd I\u2019m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, \u2018Wow, this is really\u2026what\u2019s happening to me?\u2019 It\u2019s a journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the interview, Pamela remembers her ’90s \u201cwild and uninhibited\u201d aesthetic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if it was a defense mechanism or what. I just thought, \u2018I\u2019m going to have fun,\u2019\u201d she says. \u201c[I\u2019d accessorise] with the makeup from the day before, and a little bit of glitter from two nights before. The stuff that never leaves you! I\u2019d be volunteering at the kids\u2019 school, and I would catch myself in a reflection, and I\u2019d have glitter all over my face. Which doesn\u2019t make you a bad mum, just because you\u2019re covered in glitter.\u201d<\/p>\n

In March 2023, Pamela opened the Spring\/Summer 2023 BOSS show in Miami<\/a> and was markedly toned down; fresh skin, tousled bun, a smidge of a smoky eye. A month prior she starred makeup-free on the front cover of WWD<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI really feel powerful right now when everything\u2019s very pared down,\u201d Pamela told the publication. \u201cI like to see my freckles. I like when my hair isn\u2019t done. I like just a really fresh face. I don\u2019t like those injections, and that doesn\u2019t work on me. I want to see what\u2019s going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

We can just picture her waking up at her secluded lake-side home in Vancouver, lighting her fire and sitting down to journal, makeup free.
