Depending on which Hollywood fixture you ask, the adage \u2018any press is good press\u2019 is a modus operandi to follow.<\/p>\n

Just look at Kendall Jenner<\/a>, for instance. After being ridiculed by netizens for her cucumber-chopping abilities<\/a> (or lack thereof), the supermodel and her commercial-minded mother, Kris Jenner, turned the meme into a lucrative brand deal<\/a> with Uber Eats.<\/p>\n

Now, it seems that Selena Gomez is in the business of turning her scandals into profits, with the latest launch of her makeup brand Rare Beauty believed to be in response to the \u2018browgate\u2019 saga.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was a story that captivated TikTok aficionados and the global press cycle alike, prompting Hailey Biebe<\/a>r\u2014who has dubbed the antagonist, \u201cbully\u201d and \u201cmean girl\u201d in this rigamarole\u2014to lose millions of followers.<\/p>\n

To briefly recap, Hailey and her best friend Kylie Jenner<\/a> were accused of making fun of Selena by sharing close-up photos of their eyebrows after the \u201cLose You To Love Me Singer\u201d posted a video of herself with over-laminated eyebrows.<\/p>\n

The following dispute, labelled \u2018browgate\u2019, became tabloid fodder and a regular fixture in the news cycle for weeks, with the two women pitted up against one another<\/a> because of their respective behaviour.<\/p>\n

The so-called \u201cfeud\u201d was settled with Selena and Hailey both following one another on social media<\/a> and issuing statements asking for their fanbase to exhibit kindness rather than hatred. Hailey even spoke out about the toll the supposed \u201cbeef\u201d took on her mental well-being, citing that she and Selena were never embroiled in a feud and that the story was \u201ccompletely made up and twisted\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

But it turns out that Selena was playing chess while everyone was playing checkers with the 31-year-old releasing a brow gel<\/a>. Bobby Fischer is out there somewhere taking notes from beyond the grave.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s capitalising on media interest, and then there\u2019s this: turning petty internet-fuelled raucous into something beneficial.<\/p>\n

Plus, with 1% of the proceeds from the sale of the lifting brow donated to the Rare Beauty Impact Fund, a charity focused on mental health education and support, Gomez is certainly putting the money where her mouth is in her mission to \u201ctreat people with kindness\u201d.<\/p>\n

As for Hailey, she\u2019s busy planting the seeds of her soon-to-be-released Rhode Beauty blush<\/a> with her \u201cstrawberry makeup\u201d aesthetic.<\/p>\n

Fans have conflated a meme shared by Hailey reading, \u201cUnfortunately for everyone, I\u2019m going to keep getting prettier every day\u201d with her \u201cresponding\u201d to the drama. However, we\u2019re taking this new product release as a sign to let bygones be bygones.<\/p>\n
