Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is one of the most looked-up-to figures by young girls across the Emirates. Her highly-driven attitude has led her to break many records including becoming the first woman in the UAE to win an international gold and silver medal in karate.<\/p>\n

After an injury that caused her to retire from martial arts, Sheikha Maitha decided pursued her passion for horse riding and entered the polo scene in the UAE, following in the footsteps of her father’s \u2013 His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai \u2013 passion for horses. The Emirati princess has since founded Team Z7, one of the most competitive sport horse stables in the region. Due to her father’s influence, Sheikha Maitha has shown a keen interest in equine sports from a young age. Sheikh Mohammed is, in fact, a horseman and martial artist too, and he undoubtedly shared this passion with his eldest daughter.<\/p>\n

In fact, it was Sheikh Mohammed who has been a consistent support to Sheikha Maitha. She recalled this in a previous interview with Gulf News<\/a> <\/em>saying, <\/em>“In the 90s, women competing in sport was unheard of but my father was the first person to support women in sports and he led by example when my sisters and I competed in endurance back in 1991”.<\/p>\n

As an accomplished polo player, Sheikha Maitha has won the UAE many championships alongside her incredible team and powerful horses.<\/p>\n

Team Z7 Show Horses specialise in numerous events, live entertainment, film work and engage in marketing activities for the region. One of Z7’s horses, Zeus, made his first-ever Hollywood film debut. That’s right, Zeus, owned by Sheikha Maitha, was seen in 2021 with Tom Cruise filming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning \u2013 <\/em>which recently premiered \u2013 in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
