Last year, both the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen suffered immense losses. In late September, Teigen <\/span>publicly shared she had had a stillbirth<\/span><\/a> and her third child, a son she and husband John Legend had named Jack, had died.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A few months later, in a personal essay for The New York Times<\/em>, Markle <\/span>detailed the immense grief<\/span><\/a> and suffering she Prince Harry were feeling after Markle suffered a miscarriage with her second child in July.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an attempt to encourage more of a conversation around pregnancy loss, Markle wrote, \u201cLosing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few. In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time, <\/span>Teigen publicly defended Markle<\/span><\/a> against trolls, who were questioning her motives in publicly sharing her grief\u2014something that had happened to Teigen <\/span>en mass just months earlier<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now, she\u2019s revealed the women were communicating behind-the-scenes, brought together out of the shared experience of the loss of a child.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teigen said Markle first reached out to her after she lost Jack and that the two have been in touch since.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“She had written me about baby Jack…. but yeah she is really wonderful and so kind \u2014 just as kind as everyone says she is,” Teigen said in response to a fan question during the <\/span>Watch What Happens Live! after show<\/span><\/i><\/a>. “She’s been so kind to me ever since we connected.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Teigen continued, “That’s why you look at everything and you’re like ‘My god, what is absolutely wrong with people that they have to make this person out to be so malicious or so crazy?’ when it’s just as simple as them being as kind as everyone says they are.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Teigen added that she also spoke to Markle after her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. \u201cI think when I ended up watching it, it was like ‘Holy shit this is big,” Teigen said. “But also I waited a long time to watch it, so I’d already heard so much about it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

She added Markle didn\u2019t tell her anything new that she hadn\u2019t shared with the public. \u201cI think she’s been very honest [and] open,” she said. “I think her truth has been her truth since the very beginning.”<\/span><\/p>\n
