What wouldn’t we do for one tool that not only dries our tresses but also straightens and styles them too? All without heat damage and with sleek, chic packaging, of course. Apparently the innovators over at Dyson have been reading our thoughts, as they’ve just announced the launch of the Dyson Airstrait \u2013 arguably their most revolutionary hair tool to date. Is it a hair dryer? Is it a straightener? It’s both. And then some.<\/p>\n

Six years in the making, the Airstrait is our new one-stop shop for all things hairstyling. Crafted by former jet engine and automobile engineers, it underwent thousands<\/em> of prototypes, all made on 3D printers, and is unlike anything ever launched on the hair styling market. In a nutshell, it uses hot air (carefully measured to ensure no damage) to dry hair whilst also smoothing and straightening. Unlike regular straighteners, there are no bulky hot plates involved, and its whizzy motor (more on that in a moment) switches to active mode once your hair is inside, reaching a maximum non-damaging temperature of 175\u00b0F. Its straightening, smoothing powers lie in the perfectly precise angle at which the air hits hair, which is exactly 45 degrees \u2013 that sweet spot where hair is smoothed and frizz and flyaways are no more.<\/p>\n

Like all of Dyson\u2019s haircare products, it’s powered by an intense motor that spins at 106,000 revolutions per minute. To put that into context, its motor is seven times<\/em> faster than a Formula One engine.\u00a0There’s also an internal sensor to control heat while measuring the airflow temperature every 30 seconds to keep it continually regulated. Read: less heat damage<\/a> and boosted natural shine. It even senses when hair is between the arms and automatically drops to low airflow when it’s not, making for quieter, more efficient styling.<\/p>\n

There are also three settings to choose from. The ‘Wet’ mode, as you might have guessed, is for drying and straightening. The ‘Dry’ mode allows you to touch up and refresh your locks once it’s dry, and the ‘Cool’ mode helps set your style. Although it’s literally just launched, it’s already making waves in the industry, with celebrity hairdressers like I<\/a>rinel de Le\u00f3n declaring, “It’s actually insane. I’ve never used anything like this before. Wow.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The only problem? It won’t be available in the UAE until next year.
