In heartfelt message on March 25, Reese Witherspoon<\/a>, 47, announced she and her husband of 12 years Jim Toth, 52, will be divorcing. The announcement came two days before the couple were to celebrate their 12th<\/sup> wedding anniversary.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have some personal news to share. It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,\u201d Witherspoon wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone\u2019s respect for our family\u2019s privacy at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collective gasps were felt across the world. These two people \u2013 one a Hollywood talent agent, the other an Oscar winning actress \u2013 seemed to be made for one another. They share a 10-year-old son Tennessee, and Toth also helped co-parent Witherspoon\u2019s two other children, Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19, from her first marriage to actor Ryan Phillipe.<\/p>\n

When the news initially broke, a \u201csource\u201d told Page Six<\/a><\/em> \u201cthere\u2019s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don\u2019t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

But since a different source \u2013 which, please, take this with a grain of salt \u2013 told The U.S. Sun<\/a><\/em> the split was actually the result of Witherspoon and Toth no longer having anything in common post the sale of their Hello Sunshine company<\/a>, \u201ca real gut check moment for him and Reese,\u201d says the source.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis process of uncoupling really began in late 2021 when it became clear to everybody who knew both of them that they were itching for life apart from each other,\u201d\u00a0says the insider. \u201cThat money was rocket fuel to them, but it sent them in different directions and pretty quickly after that deal closed, the only real common ground they had was the raising of their son, Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey now had more money than either of them could ever figure out what to do with, and it was time to reassess,\u201d the source adds.<\/p>\n

But this insider also alludes to Toth\u2019s change in behaviour being another reason for the split.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis personality, his attitude and his whole take on life really changed when he got out of the agency business and decided he was tired of that stuffy world and being in the service business in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cCall it a midlife crisis if you want but that\u2019s when the tattoos, the chunky, weird jewellery, and dressing like somebody half his age really took hold,\u201d the source revealed.<\/p>\n

Again, this is all speculation. We hope Reese and Jim are OK.<\/p>\n
