That\u2019s how I would have described the lively, party\u00a0atmosphere of Bistrot Bagatelle, an international name synonymous with\u00a0international jet-setters that frequented its locations in hotspots like New York\u00a0and St Tropez.<\/p>\n<p>But how would the Dubai outpost weather the onset of Covid times, when the\u00a0upbeat ambiance had to be toned down? It was with some trepidation that I\u00a0returned to the French-accented spot at Fairmont Dubai and was thrilled to see\u00a0that it\u2019s landed firmly on its feet by adjusting the spotlight from its scene to its\u00a0excellent cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>The venue itself remains the same; the chic, candle-lit white d\u00e9cor enlivened by\u00a0eye-catching canvases featuring pop art adding colour to the walls. And its\u00a0regulars keep returning \u2013 we thought an early weekday slot would result in us\u00a0being the sole diners, but to the contrary, all socially-distanced tables on our\u00a0Monday 7:30pm seating were full. The atmosphere felt more refined than it did\u00a0before \u2013 and that was before the food started arriving, deftly served by excellent\u00a0staff who guided us through their signature dishes.<\/p>\n<p>Mediterranean fine dining \u2013 that\u2019s how you would now describe what comes out\u00a0of this elevated kitchen.
