At every film festival or awards show, there’s guaranteed to be one celebrity red carpet look that truly stops you in your tracks. This year, at the 79th annual Venice International Film Festival, that look belongs to the one and only Penelope Cruz.<\/p>\n

Attending the premiere of L’Immensit\u00e0<\/em>, Cruz wore a black and pink Chanel couture gown. The film, set in 1970’s Rome, follows the story of a mother of three (played by Cruz) who is institutionalised after dealing with her violent husband. In an interview with Variety<\/em><\/a>, Cruz said she doesn’t think her character is “crazy” at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is trapped in her family. Trapped in her home, in her body. In the situation in which she finds herself living. She doesn\u2019t have a plan B. There is no escape,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

While this year’s festival has had no shortage of incredible celebrity looks, there’s no denying that Cruz in Chanel is a standout.<\/p>\n

And it wasn’t just her couture gown that stole the show. Cruz’s unwavering commitment to a smokey eye makeup look is proof that when you have a good thing going, you should just stick with it.<\/p>\n

Now, if you’ll please excuse me, I need to go find my darkest eyeliner and start a never-ending quest for the perfect pink lipstick.<\/p>\n
