From Chanel<\/a> catwalks to dressing in vintage Versace<\/a>, Bella Hadid has become a fashion icon and supermodel. But apart from being the face most women will show their plastic surgeons and men fawn over, Bella has also become an icon of liberation for Palestine. But in a recent interview with GQ<\/em><\/a>, she opened up like never before on her determination to help her hometown.<\/p>\n

\u201cI realised that I\u2019m not on this earth to be a model. I\u2019m so lucky and blessed that I\u2019m in a position where I can speak out the way that I do. And really, the downfall is what? That I lose my job?” she said in the interview. For others, it wouldn’t be considered a risk to stand up against oppression in their hometown. For Bella, the risks are much more magnified, because her hometown is Palestine, a country many fear to stand up for in the public eye.<\/p>\n

It’s clear that Bella has reshuffled her priority list: and Palestine is right at the top. Bella shares this sentiment with several other Palestinians who feel as though they have nothing left to lose, and that losing that brand partnership or being terminated from your steady job is just no longer something we won’t comprise. Yet, our determination to Free Palestine has now become the thing we cannot compromise.<\/p>\n
