In honour of India’s Independence Day, we look at one author’s deep dive into India’s influence on fashion design and popular sartorial styles throughout the past six centuries. The author, Phyllida Jay, recounts the many times fashion has tapped into India’s rich visual culture in her new book,<\/span>\u00a0Inspired India: How India Transformed Global Design<\/i>.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly,\u00a0<\/span>Dior<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Herm\u00e8s<\/span><\/a>\u00a0created Indian-inspired objects in their collections, with representations of India appearing on items such as watches and bags.<\/span><\/p>\n
