Many films have come under fire for the portrayal of stars including\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/family-responds-house-of-gucci-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House of Gucci<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Green Book.\u00a0<\/em>For the upcoming biopic on Marilyn Monroe however, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/ana-de-armas-joey-king-yara-shahidi-uniform-trend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ana de Armas<\/a> has been backed by the estate.<\/p>\n<p>Last week Netflix released the first official trailer to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/blonde-trailer-ana-de-armas-netflix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blonde<\/a><\/em>. The actress garnered criticism on social media for not portraying the accent of Monroe accurately, which would be extremely difficult for anyone, and even more so for the Cuban-born star. Matt Kennedy \/ Netflix \u00a9 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history,\u201d Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which owns the Marilyn Monroe Estate, said in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/film\/news\/marilyn-monroe-estate-defends-ana-de-armas-blonde-casting-accent-1235330934\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAny actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn\u2019s glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can\u2019t wait to see the film in its entirety!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BLONDE | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aIsFywuZPoQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In a previous interview with\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/knives-out-star-ana-de-armas-my-life-has-been-about-being-in-the-right-place-at-the-right-time-c66tm3nv0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Times of London<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>de Armas recalled spending nearly one year preparing for the role. &#8220;It took me nine months of dialect coaching, and practicing and some ADR sessions [to get the accent right],&#8221; she said. &#8220;It was a big torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Blonde\u00a0<\/em>is based on the Joyce Carol Oates novel of the same and is set to explore the &#8220;complicated life&#8221; of Monroe. It will see a world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival this month before it&#8217;s released onto Netflix from September
