Herm\u00e8s released its latest high jewellery collection, Les Jeux de l’ombre, in an epic display of theatre and photography in Paris on the 6th of July. This is the house’s seventh high jewellery collection, consisting of 53 pieces artfully designed by Pierre Hardy. He has been the house’s creative director of jewellery for over two decades, continuing Herm\u00e8s’ legacy of fine craftsmanship dating all the way back to 1837.<\/p>\n
Herm\u00e8s launched Les Jeux de l\u2019ombre for the press on July 6th, with a theatre performance created by Lina Lapelyt\u00e8. The performance encapsulated Hardy’s themes for the collection: the elusiveness of shadows and their relationship to light. If not for the jewellery showcased onstage, the performers’ shadows could have easily been the protagonists of the show. They contrasted against a curtain hung centre stage, which distorted the size of their bodies and created the elusive effect Hardy was aiming for with Les Jeux de l’ombre.<\/p>\n

The photography showcasing the collection was just as thoughtful and creative. The photographer, Elizaveta Porodina, used editing techniques\u2013superimposition and saturation\u2013associated with psychedelics. It made the images of the women wearing Les Jeux de l’ombre jewellery surreal to look at\u2014ultimately conveying how transformative it is to wear Herm\u00e8s’ jewellery. From exquisitely designed necklaces made with flat-cut white diamonds to powerful statement rings made with uncut yellow diamonds, the new Herm\u00e8s high jewellery collection, Les Jeux de l’ombre, is a total feast for the eyes.<\/p>\n
Les Jeux de l’ombre is exhibited throughout the French fashion brand’s flagship store in Paris. It’s laid out in a gallery-like style, again emphasising how akin this high jewellery collection is to contemporary art.
