At Elie Saab<\/a>‘s 2022 haute couture runway show, the hairstyle of the moment \u2013 an impossibly sleek, high-shine bun \u2013 recieved an edgy update. Hair legend Jawara Wauchope<\/a> added micro-braids and an intricate twisted knot at the nape of models’ necks to lend a youthful air to the house’s elegant attire.<\/p>\n

Of course, the sleek bun \u2013 with its neat, glossy knot and imperceptible flyaways \u2013 is easily recognisable given the look has dominated street style and social media alike for the past year.<\/p>\n

TikTok has been particularly susceptible to the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic, with creators using reflective oils and Olaplex treatments<\/a> to achieve the style \u2013 but it’s undoubtedly been due for a refresh, which is exactly what Jawara’s braid detailing provided.<\/p>\n

Jawara’s vision saw the sleek bun elevated with face-framing micro-braids, which ran from the crown downwards on either side of the face, and one long braid through the middle.<\/p>\n

The lengths were given a wet-look finish, smoothed flat and pulled into a twisted bun at the bottom of the neck. The result was an energetic take on an arguably oversaturated style, breathing fresh life into the look.<\/p>\n
