To mark the occasion, actress and DeGeneres\u2019 close friend Jennifer Aniston came on as a guest in a full-circle moment: the former <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friends<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> star was the first celebrity to ever appear on the show in its debut episode almost 20 years ago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Oh, where does 19 years go?&#8221; Aniston, who has sat in the chair beside DeGeneres 20 times now, asked. &#8220;I don&#8217;t understand.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DeGeneres then asked how Aniston dealt with the ending of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friends<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2004 after its 10-year run with Aniston surprisingly using the question to make a joke about her high-profile divorce from her husband Brad Pitt, which was announced in 2005 after five years of marriage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Well, I got a divorce and went into therapy,&#8221; Aniston quipped. &#8220;Oh! And then I did a movie called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Break-Up.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She continued, \u201cI just kinda leaned into the end. I just was like, &#8216;You know what, guys? Let&#8217;s make this a completely new chapter. Let&#8217;s just end everything and start new.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jennifer Aniston Dealt with &#039;Friends&#039; End with Divorce &amp; Therapy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CuxqL5IsiOc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It worked <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">great<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,&#8221; she added, making the live audience laugh, before adding that she doesn&#8217;t want DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi to follow the same path.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite initially not being on the best of terms with Pitt following their split \u2013 he infamously quickly (or had already, depending on what timeline you believe) moved on with his<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Mr and Mrs Smith<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> co-star Angelina Jolie \u2013 Aniston is close to both her ex-husbands today, Pitt and actor Justin Theroux.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2018, she told<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elle.com\/culture\/celebrities\/a25426565\/jennifer-aniston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ELLE<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> she considers her marriages &#8220;very successful,&#8221; adding, &#8220;When they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn&#8217;t exist within that arrangement anymore.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking specifically about Pitt last year, whose public interactions with Aniston always go viral to this day, Aniston said, &#8220;Brad and I are buddies,&#8221; on an episode of <em>The Howard Stern Show.<\/em> &#8220;Like, we&#8217;re friends and we speak.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Theroux has spoken about his former wife and cherishing their bond, too. &#8220;Like it or not, we didn&#8217;t have that dramatic split, and we love each other,&#8221; he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/entertainment\/movies\/a36075661\/justin-theroux-mosquito-coast-interview-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Esquire<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in April 2021. &#8220;I&#8217;m sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship. We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship.
