This year&#8217;s theme is <em>In America: An Anthology of Fashion<\/em> but in recent weeks has been increasingly referred to as\u00a0<em>Gilded Glamour,\u00a0<\/em>a lavish homage to American designers from the 19th to mid 20th century.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_213305\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-213305\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-213305 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/GettyImages-1395030819.jpg\" alt=\"Blake Lively Ryan Reynolds\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-213305\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris\/Getty Images for The Met Museum\/Vogue<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Following on from 2017 and 2018, the actress and filmmaker once again chose to wear Atelier Versace &#8211; oh, and did we mention that husband Ryan Reynolds was there too? At first the\u00a0<em>Gossip Girl\u00a0<\/em>alum was photographed wearing an embellished column gown with a sweeping bronze train and chiffon opera gloves. As she climbed the stairs her ensemble was transformed with the bow opening to reveal a layer of sky blue throughout the train and opera gloves.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds was not far away, and adhering to the &#8220;white tie&#8221; dress code (so essentially no t-shirts and sneakers), wore a brown velvet tuxedo and cream bow tie.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Blake Lively\u2019s dress is unveiled at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MetGala?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">#MetGala<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2kVWwK9Yn6\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/2kVWwK9Yn6<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Vo4XCydMRt\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/Vo4XCydMRt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Variety (@Variety) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Variety\/status\/1521248855383322624?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">May 2, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_213306\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-213306\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-213306 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/GettyImages-1395030889.jpg\" alt=\"Blake Lively Ryan reynolds\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-213306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Jamie McCarthy\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Instead of paying homage to a particular American designer, Lively explained on a Vogue livestream that she wanted to pay tribute to New York architecture, specifically wearing a bronze gown that transforms, like the Statue of Liberty which was originally copper and is now seen in a green hue. &#8220;I think Versace thought I was crazy when I pitched this idea,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Lively&#8217;s look was paired with a Tiara &#8211; fitting for the Queen she is &#8211; and drop earrings. Her signature blonde locks was the work of Jennifer Yepez, makeup Kristofer Buckle and nails by Elle Gerstein.<\/p>\n<p>Using Charlotte Tilbury, Buckle has broken down Lively&#8217;s dewy look. \u201cBlake\u2019s look was inspired by warm-toned metals and coppers starting with a bronzed contour on the skin. Her eyes were washed with a combination of matte browns for structure and metallic rose golds and coppers to play off her Versace gown.
