Placing a model of a cracked egg beneath a stiletto? That&#8217;s where fashion meets art.<\/p>\n<p>English footwear designer <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/jw-andersons-resort-22-collection-is-a-strawberry-fields-dreamscape\/\">Jonathan Anderson<\/a> has accomplished just this with his new line of heels for <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/loewe-fall-winter-2022\/\">Loewe<\/a>. The brand&#8217;s latest heels shocked design enthusiasts with its surreal pump: a stiletto design where the heel breaks into a model of a cracked chicken egg, spilt yoke and all. Another design from the Loewe collection is an upside rose in place of a heel, and another heel is a bar of soap.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22286\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22286\" style=\"width: 820px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22286\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/04\/fashion-forecasting-surreal-heels-1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"426\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22286\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Instagram @jonathan.anderson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>Anderson isn&#8217;t the only footwear designer creating these surreal heels. Other designers, like Matsui Ryosuke from Ha Za Ma, are doing it as well. Muaddi&#8217;s block heels jerked into the footwear market in 2018, and their runaway block heel design quickly became subject to copycat heels, high street\u2013retailers could not keep them on the shelves. From <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/jacquemus-le-splash-rain\/\">Jacquemus<\/a>\u2019s mismatched heels to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/isabel-marant-spring-summer-2022\/\">Isabel Marant<\/a>\u2019s Luam Ankle Boots, brands noticed that the average footwear customer was ready for out of the box designs. Now, the statement shoe is evolving into something more surreal than sculptural, whether that be ornate butterfly appliques on stilettos or denture-like models of teeth as heels. Surreal heels transform our perception of what a shoe can be\u2013not just a wardrobe staple but something closer to a modern art museum artefact. It elevates high heels to collector status, making the owner the art collector.
