The rumours are true. A biopic on the Queen of Pop is set to grace our screens at an undisclosed date and with pre-production well underway, there is a slew of actresses vying for the role of Madonna<\/a>. According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>the likes of Julia Garner, Florence Pugh, Euphoria<\/em> star Alexa Demie<\/a>, Odessa Young, Emma Laired and singers Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira are on the shortlist.<\/p>\n

Sources have told the publication that the women will undergo a “gruelling” audition process to nab the role in what has been described as a “Madonna bootcamp” with casting director Carmen Cuba. It reportedly involves choreography training sessions that last up to 11 hours per day with\u00a0the\u00a0<\/em>Madonna choreographer.<\/p>\n

The “Material Girl” star is also believed to be involved with the casting. For callbacks, the actresses will complete readings with the 63-year-old. \u201cYou have to be able to do everything,\u201d an insider told the outlet.<\/p>\n

It is not known exactly what aspects of Madonna’s glamorous career will be featured within the film. One source suggested it would focus on the singer’s 1999 Blonde Ambition tour. Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on the project, Madonna explained, “The reason I\u2019m doing it is because a bunch of people have tried to write movies about me, but they\u2019re always men.”<\/p>\n
