The look\u2014red, satin, with a dramatic train\u2014immediately sent the internet into a meltdown with its heady mix of old world glamour, modern Americana, and an almost palpable sense of optimism. In one simple move Markle proved a timeless sartorial maxim: if you want to show the world you\u2019re unphased by negative energy, reach for a gown designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/search\/?search=wes+gordon\">Wes Gordon<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Markle will no doubt have marked down pieces from Carolina Herrera&#8217;s latest collection, which Gordon (the brand\u2019s creative director) presented in New York City overnight. While some designers are using the fall winter \u201822 season as an opportunity to show hyper-wearable \u2018day clothes\u2019, Gordon leaned unapologetically into eveningwear, crafting bold, sculptural gowns in fresh shades of mango, magenta, and eggplant. \u201cIt\u2019s about dressing for the joy it gives you,\u201d Gordon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/fashion\/gallery\/carolina-herrera-aw22\" target=\"_blank\">said in a post-show interview<\/a>. \u201cThe confidence in the art of beautiful clothes. And while some people are stepping confidently into \u2018post pandemic\u2019 life wrapped in their most eye-grabbing, OTT ensembles, others are still finding the idea of \u2018dressing up\u2019 challenging\u2014terrifying, even. For Wes Gordon, he wants the fall winter \u201822 collection to represent a reset, the moment we decide to step together in the great unknown. \u201cBravery never goes out of fashion,\u201d went the opening lines of his show notes, a quote from the writer William Thackeray. \u201cOur clothes are bold, self-assured, and full-of-fire,&#8221; they continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re still not sold on full-blown eveningwear (don&#8217;t worry you\u2019ll get to see plenty of them on the red carpet come Oscar season, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/every-winner-2022-golden-globe-awards\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">West Side Story <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/every-winner-2022-golden-globe-awards\/\">star Ariana DeBose<\/a> was among the FROW attendees), there was plenty of souped-up daywear to tickle your fancy. The opening look saw a sophisticated update on the \u2018white shirt and cigarette trouser\u2019 combo, courtesy of dramatic sleeves and a super-flattering high-waisted cut. With Wes Gordon at the helm, it seems that trajectory is set to continue for many decades to come.
