Brad Pitt<\/a> and Alia Shawkat sent tabloids into a frenzy when they sparked romance rumours after being photographed<\/a> together a number of times in late 2019. The Arrested Development\u00a0<\/em>actress had addressed the speculation<\/a> in the past and was adamant their relationship was purely platonic. Pitt and Shawkat met at a movie premiere and struck up a friendship.<\/p>\n

In a new interview, Shawkat revealed that despite all the hysteria at the time, Pitt had no idea. “It came in hot and left as fast as it came in,” she told\u00a0The New Yorker<\/a>.<\/em> “It happened during covid, and I was alone with it. It was so weird. Now it’s like a weird dream, where I’m, like, Did that happen?”<\/p>\n

She continued, “Because he doesn’t read that s–t. I was, like, ‘You know everyone thinks we’re dating? And there’s this whole thing, and I’m being followed.’ And he was, like, ‘I’m sorry. It happens. If you hang out with me, it happens.’ He had no awareness of it at all.”<\/p>\n

To be fair, the award-winning actor told The <\/em>New York Times<\/em><\/a> in 2019 that he doesn’t follow gossip news. “I don’t go out of my way to avoid it; I just don’t seek it out,” Pitt told the publication. “I don’t know how many women they’ve said I’ve been dating the last two or three years, and none of it’s true.”<\/p>\n

Pitt was last linked to German model Nicole Poturalski for a brief moment. They split<\/a> around mid-2020. The 58-year-old has since been embroiled in a nasty divorce settlement with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
