While Samantha Jones<\/a> may not be appearing in the new Sex And The City<\/em><\/a> reboot, And Just Like That<\/em><\/a>, is there a chance that the beloved character might just pop up on another iconic show? Fans certainly seem to think so, as Twitter is rife with speculation that SATC<\/em>‘s wildly popular Samantha \u2013 who is absent from the show’s reboot due to Kim Cattrall<\/a> declining to reprise her role \u2013 will appear on the next season of Emily In Paris<\/em>.<\/p>\n

So far the fan theory remains unfounded, but there are a number of ways that it could, in fact, be possible. The first is that the original creator of SATC<\/em>, Darren Star, is also at the helm of the Netflix series, so a crossover could perhaps be plausible. However as HBO owns the rights to the character of Samantha Jones (and everything related to SATC<\/em>) \u2013 and Emily In Paris<\/em> belongs to a rival streaming service \u2013 it could still be a no.<\/p>\n

The second is that (SPOILER) at the end of the second season of Emily In Paris<\/em>, the main character Emily Cooper \u2013 who works in marketing and publicity, like Samantha \u2013 faces a choice between returning to her home town of Chicago or staying at a job in Paris. Samantha’s absence in the reboot was explained as her character having relocated to London, so fans feel it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for her to appear as Emily’s new boss in the upcoming third season.<\/p>\n

The writers of And Just Like That\u00a0<\/em>revealed the cause of the publicist’s move to the UK to be a falling out with friend Carrie Bradshaw. “I told her that, you know, because of what the book business is now, it just didn\u2019t make sense for me to keep her on as a publicist,” Carrie said on the show. “She said, \u2018Fine,\u2019 and then fired me as a friend. I understand that she was upset, but I thought I was more to her than an ATM.”<\/p>\n

Many fans felt the explanation was out of step with the character of Samantha, so perhaps this rumoured crossover could provide a better ending for everyone.<\/p>\n
