TikTok is known for its constant thrive to become the world’s #1 application and it’s getting there. It is constantly updating its platform to create a more user-friendly experience for its users and become a more supportive space where users can feel empowered to express themselves. So, we were not surprised to learn that TikTok hosted its first ever Mental Well-Being Summit in Egypt in October in honour of World Mental Health Day.

The event was a launch for the #EndTheStigma mental well-being campaign TikTok created, with guests from all around the Middle East being welcomed to learn more about how to protect their mental health, whether it’s in person or virtually. The campaign is meant to ensure that anyone and everyone has the support they need when they need it. Whether it’s checking in on one another, sharing your own personal struggle or if you’re just in the mood to rant.

During the summit, guests were able to learn first hand from mental health experts on how to take care of their mental health and what are the signs that someone you love might be in need. The discussion included an important discussion on why it is vital for you to take care of your mental well-being.

Guests had the opportunity to learn more about TikTok’s mental health resources and in-app safety features that help safeguard the community. The safety features include Screen Time Management, search interventions, content warnings and how they try their best to prevent bullying.

Other than seminars and discussions, a guided art therapy session was one of the summit’s highlights. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy nature and paint freely to release emotions.
