Selena Gomez has shared never-before-heard details about her struggles with her mental and physical health in her upcoming documentary My Mind & Me.

In the first trailer for the documentary, which details the singer’s mental health battle over the course of six years, was released this week, during which Gomez says she’s “grateful to be alive.”

“Let me make a promise, I am going to stop living like this. How do I learn how to breathe my own breath again?” she asks.

The video cuts to footage of Gomez, who’s been famous and working in the industry since she was young, reflecting on her work/life balance, amid sharing clips of her performing as a child. At one point, Gomez cries to a friend, saying, “My whole life, since I was a kid, I’ve been working. And I don’t want to be like, super famous. But I do know that if I’m here, I have to use that for good.”

“Clearly I’m still here to use whatever I have to help someone else,” Gomez says at another point.

Gomez has long been a mental health advocate, speaking out about the dangers of social media – and her decision to step away from her own – as well as revealing she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago, something she says was “freeing.”

Along with co-founders Daniella Pierson and her mother, Mandy Teefey, Gomez launched the multimedia mental wellness company Wondermind earlier this year with the aim of providing free resources that allow anyone to work on their “mental fitness.”

In April, Gomez opened up about her bipolar diagnosis, saying on Good Morning America, “It was really freeing” to have the information.“It made me really happy because I started to have a relationship with myself, and I think that’s the best part. Like, I’ve probably been the happiest I’ve ever been,” she continued, adding, “I can’t believe I am where I am mentally, just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it’s just not normal. I really want people to be understood and seen and heard. It’s okay to not be okay,” she said.

It’s also believed Gomez will address her relationship with Justin Bieber in her documentary, likely the reason his wife Hailey Bieber agreed to do an interview on Call Her Daddy to set the record straight on the pair’s relationship timeline.

My Mind & Me is streaming on Apple+ from November 4th.
