Since Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Portofino wedding in May, we’ve come to learn of nearly every detail from the lavish affair. The custom Dolce & Gabbana dress, the location and the guests. But until now we’ve known little about the reality star’s all-important makeup look. Luckily for you and I (and any future bride), the Poosh founder has shared exactly what was applied to her wellness platform.
Kardashian commissioned celebrity makeup artist Leah Darcy for the wedding. In an interview with Poosh, Darcy explained that she kept the makeup “simple and timeless”. “Not too heavy on the skin; just enough to look flawless in photos,” she added.
“On the eyes, we went a bit smoky in the crease and lighter on the lids, with a touch of liquid liner for a classic look … We completed the look with our signature ’90s nude lip, using a taupe liner to contour topped with a creamy nude lipstick,” the artist explained. While Darcy did not disclose the exact products used for Kardashian’s look, she did list some helpful tips to prepare a flawless base for any wedding day. Or any event for that matter.
Firstly, Darcy advises timing any facials correctly to avoid side effects lingering for the big occasion. To be safe, she suggests giving a two-week buffer with treatments while also avoiding trying new skincare products, especially for those with sensitive skin. On the day, de-puffing the face helps prep the skin using a bucket of purified ice cold water and a washcloth (or your favourite tool). According to the makeup artist, “I find this also helps to calm nerves a bit.”
When it comes to the actual application, Darcy likes to use a combination of false lashes. “I love using individual lashes because they’re almost undetectable and make it easy to layer and customise,” she told Poosh. “For a little more drama, I cut pieces of a strip lash and layered the pieces throughout.”
