After a tumultuous 18 months fashion’s most anticipated red carpet, the Met Gala, will descend into New York City on September 13. Anna Wintour has appointed Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman, Billie Eilish and Naomi Osaka to co-chair the annual event and while tickets to the lavish soirée reportedly cost up to Dhs 110,1175, you also have to make the editor’s exclusive guest list.
In intel obtained by Page Six, Jennifer Lopez will attend the event along with the likes of Rihanna (did you hear she just made billionaire status?!), gorgeous new mum Emily Ratajkowski, actress Lupita Nyong’o, and singer Camila Cabello. J Lo’s appearance ultimately begs the question: will Ben Affleck be accompanying her?
You would recall that the pair made their red carpet debut back in 2002 film during Lopez’ film premiere Maid in Manhattan. If the actor was to attend the upcoming affair it would be their first official event in 19 years. Lopez is a regular guest and rarely misses the Met Gala after attending for the first time in 2004. She was last in attendance with her ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez in 2019 – awkward.
This year’s theme will hero homegrown designers in a two-part exhibition. Part one, “America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, will debut on September 18, 2021, and run through May 5, 2022. Part two, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, will open on May 5, 2022 with the red carpet event to return to normal scheduling in 2022.
With ongoing health restrictions, the event will be scaled back. In addition, guests will have to jump through a couple of much-needed hoops.
“Currently, all attendees at The Met Gala on September 13 must provide proof of full vaccination and will also be expected to wear masks indoors except when eating or drinking,” a spokesperson for the Met said. “We will update these guidelines as needed.”
So really what they’re saying is, we can expect some extremely extravagant masks to match the incredible gowns.
Below are some of J Lo’s past looks.
