John Aniston, famous for his appearance in over 2,800 episodes of Days of our Lives, passed away on Friday aged 89. A grieving Jennifer Aniston took to Instagram overnight to a pen a heartfelt tribute to her “sweet papa”.

“You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain,” the Friends actress wrote. “And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now 🕊️I’ll love you till the end of time💔.”

She added, “Don’t forget to visit 💫🤗❤️.” The sweet caption was accompanied by a carousel of images from his life including when the actress was a baby to more recent photos.

The 53-year-old received an outpouring of love in the comment section from the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi, and ex-husband Justin Theroux. Morning Wars co-star and close friend Reese Witherspoon wrote, “Sending you all my angels 🕊️I love you Sister. ❤️.”

Lily Collins also added, “Sending all the love and light possible and hugs I could possibly give.”

Mr. Aniston was born with the name Yannis Anastassakis but changed it in the 1960s to pursue a career in Hollywood. He went onto appear in the likes of Gilmore Girls, Star Trek: Voyager, Mad Men and Cold Case before earning a permanent role as Victor Kiriakis in Days of our Lives.

He admitted in a past interview with the Television Academy Foundation that he tried to discourage his daughter from an acting career after she contacted his agent at a young age for auditions. “I told her, ‘You don’t want to be in show business. Show business stinks,’” he said.
