If this year was a TV series, this week doesn’t mark the beginning of a new season, but a new spin-off series entirely. Not only are we celebrating the astrological new year (Equinox – 21 March AEST; 20 March GMT) and a fiery new moon in Aries the next day (22 March AEST; 21 March GMT) but Pluto – the planet ruling power, big business, financial markets, control, shadow and major societal shake-ups  – is also changing signs for the first time since 2008 (23 March AEST and GMT).

But like all hotly-anticipated moments (31 December every.single.year anyone?), it’s less about the week (or episode) in a vacuum and more about what it’s setting up. Just like you don’t wake up on 1 January a changed person, you’re unlikely to wake up to an entirely different outlook/situation/world view, but you can be sure in hindsight that this week marks a major turning point. The trouble is we might not be able to see exactly what that looks like right away. Keep your mind open and don’t dismiss this new spin-off based on the pilot – it’s only the beginning.

ARIES AND ARIES RISING

That struggling to get out of second gear feel that’s been slowing you down is OVER this week. It’s big Aries energy and you should be feeling brighter, braver and more YOU than you have in months. Be bold, take a risk, jump in head first and let off steam with a playlist you haven’t listened to for years.

TAURUS AND TAURUS RISING

Aries season is usually your most mellow moment but it’s hard to contain the excitement with so much change upon us. Brace yourself for an epic three months that could transform the way you show up at work. There’s big power moves to be made, you can either step up to the plate, or check out and hand over the reins – the choice is yours.

GEMINI AND GEMINI RISING

There’s a lot going on this week but for Geminis there’s no topping the fact that Mars is moving out of your immediate field of vision (TF!) on 25 March (AEST and GMT). That’s good news if you’ve feeling totally burnt out since last September. Treat your nervous system to something nice to celebrate the end of an incredibly trying 6+ months.

CANCER AND CANCER RISING

The major reset vibes of the Equinox reverberate through the week, and are amplified this as Mars moves into your home sign (25 March AEST and GMT). That’s good news if you’ve been feeling a sense of restlessness or struggling with sleep over the past six months. Capitalise on the newfound fire by getting back to the gym.

LEO AND LEO RISING

With your ruling luminary in one of its happiest spots on the calendar (other than your season, obvs) the fire and ‘f*ck it let’s do it!’ of Aries season could see you feeling extra impulsive. If the mood takes you, booking an OS ticket you never knew you needed could be a very real possibility.

VIRGO AND VIRGO RISING

Are you ready for some deep healing? Whichever way you dice it this week is ushering in a new chapter of catharsis. This is less about doing and more about waiting to see what comes up. Trust that where the light catches a scar, there’s work to be done. You’ve got an extra wave of courage to do the work, dive in.

LIBRA AND LIBRA RISING

There’s a welcome moment for serious do over this week as the Sun and Moon invite a system reset on your closest relationships. With Mars also changing signs it all adds up to a welcome reprieve from the grinding irritation you’ve possibly been feeling towards your significant others (platonic or otherwise).

SCORPIO AND SCORPIO RISING

It’s not every day both of your ruling planets shifts signs but this week you’re getting a 2-fer. Pluto’s grand entrance into Aquarius signals a brave new era, especially when it comes to your work. While Mars finally moves into Cancer. Celebrate by getting away next weekend, even if it’s just a last-minute hotel stay.

SAGITTARIUS AND SAGITTARIUS RISING

After months of strain in your closest relationships, things look set to calm down. It’s less like something prolific has changed and more like whatever they’ve been doing (or they’ve been dealing with) just isn’t as irritating anymore. Celebrate by getting hot and sweaty – together or solo.

CAPRICORN AND CAPRICORN RISING

As the gargantuan weight of Pluto leaves your home sign (where it’s been for literally 15 years!) this truly is a week of new beginnings. Not all stories grab you by the end of the first page so be patient if things don’t feel immediately brand new. Reflect on how you’ve evolved since 2008 and what you’ve learned about truth, power and control.

AQUARIUS AND AQUARIUS RISING

While there’s no doubt a new age is definitely upon us – especially for you – the crazy changes could take a while to take root. Ready yourself for the big soul up-level by making time to do something that makes you feel truly powerful. Boxing, martial arts, writing a strongly worded letter of complaint – whatever connects you with your primal energy, go do that.

PISCES AND PISCES RISING

As your home season wraps up the focus shifts to all things financial. With big decisions and new beginnings shaking up the status quo, ripping the band-aid off and taking the plunge on a big decision could suddenly feel a whole lot more achievable.
