Finally after two years, the annual Met Gala will return to its normal scheduling on the first Monday of May. Today, The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the star-studded lineup of co-chairs for The Costume Institute’s annual spring benefit including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri and Anna Wintour will continue their role as honorary co-chairs for the event following last September’s benefit for Part One of the In America Exhibition – an homage to American designers. Later this month, the exhibition which takes place Anna Wintour Costume Center will have pieces from the likes of Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen and Calvin Klein rotated out for a series of new designs.

Part Two which is dubbed An Anthology of Fashion will explore the foundations of American fashion through a series of sartorial displays featuring individual designers and dressmakers who worked in the United States from the 19th to the mid-late 20th century. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 7 and close on September 5.

The 2021 soirée which took place in September was co-chaired by Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish and Naomi Osaka. Just some of the beautiful examples of American fashion included Kaia Gerber’s tribute to Bianca Jagger in Oscar de la Renta and Lupita Nyong’o’s fashionable homage to the denim industry.

The extravagant gala was cancelled in 2020 with Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, the aforementioned Miranda and Nicolas Ghesquiere set to co-chair the event. It is arguably one of the most exclusive parties across the globe and is the primary source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, operations and capital improvements for the iconic museum.
