It turns out Rihanna isn’t the only A-list celebrity with baby news to share. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who, as far as we knew, were pregnant with their fourth child, appear to actually have already given birth. Like, a while ago. Over the weekend, the couple added their subtle confirmation to the most eventful weekend in recent history, posting an Instagram to celebrate the Super Bowl, sans baby bump.
It’s no wonder Lively and Reynolds‘ low-key photo initially flew under the radar. Not only did we have New York Fashion Week’s non-stop runway shows – including Chloe Sevigny and The White Lotus’ ‘Greg’ on the runway – the Brits red carpet, and the Super Bowl Halftime Show (including an internet-breaking pregnancy announcement from Rihanna) to contend with over the past few days, but over on Instagram, there was Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s public relationship breakdown to navigate. Are you tired? I’m tired.
On Instagram, Lively celebrated Super Bowl festivities – AKA the Rihanna concert – and her ad during the broadcast by sharing an image showing herself, her husband and her mum posing together for a pre-game photo. Missing from the pic? Lively’s baby bump, with the 35-year-old clearly showing off her figure — and lack of bump — in a tight black tank top and jeans.
Lively cheekily captioned the post, “been busy”, however, she wasn’t referring to giving birth to her fourth child, instead, she was referencing a commercial for her mixer company, Betty Buzz, which aired during the Puppy Bowl – a show encouraging people to support animal shelters. “Puppy Bowl Sunday 2023🥘 🍲 🥧,” she wrote, alongside images of the homemade food the trio were eating while watching the game.
Lively, who married Reynolds in 2012 with whom she shares children, James, Inez and Betty, revealed the couple were expecting their fourth child in September debuting her bump on the red carpet of the 10th annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit.
The couple have a track record of announcing personal news sans statement, debuting Lively’s second pregnancy on the red carpet back in 2016, and keeping photos of their children offline as much as possible.
While speaking about adding to their family, Reynolds previously joked he was perfectly content with having another girl — they have three — if it happened.
“I know girls,” he said in an interview on the Today show on Nov. 7. “So I’m kind of hoping for that.”
He went on to explain that he’s the youngest of four boys and is well aware how chaotic that can be.
“I come from all brothers, which is why I speak from experience,” he said. “I love my well-being and I love my home. I was the youngest of four and we were just arsonists and firemen.”
