On-screen, Zendaya may be wearing track pants, vintage Jean Paul Gaultier and Aries as Rue, the drug-addicted teenager at the heart of Euphoria, but off-screen she’s the perfect red carpet plus-one in pumps, a LBD and a blow-out for her boyfriend’s movie premiere.
To attend the screening of her British actor beau Tom Holland’s new film, Uncharted, in New York City, Zendaya opted for a casual chic look, consisting of an oversized shirt as a dress with a thick black cinched belted waist, semi-sheer black tights and matching black pumps. She added a lined smoky cat eye and wore her hair in a bouncy, old Hollywood blow-dry. Holland matched his stylish girlfriend wearing a sleek grey suit and a black turtleneck underneath.
Though the couple used to shy away from PDA in an attempt to keep their relationship out of the public eye, following their recent SpiderMan press tour – during which they had to pose beside each other on red carpets all over the world – they seem to have settled into things, leaving the venue together hand in hand.
Their latest appearance comes after Zendaya spent time in Holland’s home city of London, meeting his parents and attending a play – reportedly Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – with his brothers.
Though they’ve asked fans numerous times to respect their privacy when it comes to photos, the duo opened up about being public figures and the impact that has on their private life in an interview with GQ last year. “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” Holland said, alluding to the kiss in his car that outed their relationship mid last year.
“I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We sort of felt robbed of our privacy,” he continued.
Zendaya admitted the interest in their romance “was quite strange and weird and confusing and invasive. The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own… I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other.”
