Zayn Malik has so many tattoos that one more design on his body is hardly news, but his latest inking could be cause for concern.

The Pillow Talk singer recently got a UV or ‘black light’ tattoo of a Star Wars lightsaber on the side of his middle finger, as the artist, the celebrity-adored New York City based Jon Boy revealed on Instagram.

A tattoo of a lightsaber that actually lights up was clearly a novelty too hard to resist for Zayn, but he could be putting his health at risk. UV tattoos work by having a special kind of ink, made of phosphorous or similar materials, injected into the skin. As dermatologic surgeon Dr. Joel Schlessinger recently told Mic after a UV tattoo went viral online, phosphorous can be toxic to humans.

“Phosphorus is a dangerous element that can be incredibly toxic to humans depending on where it’s derived,” he said. “Because tattoo ink is not regulated by the FDA, it can be difficult to know if the ink to be used contains even the smallest amount of phosphorus.”

This is one trend we don’t see girlfriend Gigi Hadid following anytime soon.
