Following allegations that Zayn Malik “struck” Yolanda Hadid in a domestic dispute last week, the singer has plead “no contest” to four charges of harassment against the mother and his ex-partner, Gigi Hadid. Essentially it means a guilty plead without formally admitting guilt. As a result he will be forced to serve 360 days of probation and complete anger management and domestic violence programs. The model was reportedly away when the fight involving her mother took place.
Malik and Hadid split following the incident but according to a new report, the couple were slated to break-up anyways. A source for US Weekly told the publication that “it’s much better that they have separated.”
“Gigi and Zayn had a very destructive relationship when they were together romantically.” The insider added, “Gigi stands by Zayn’s ability to coparent well.”
According to the police report obtained by Billboard, he allegedly “grabbed [Yolanda] and shoved her into a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical pain.” He also verbally abused his girlfriend, telling her to “strap on some f***ing balls and defend your partner against your f***ing mother in my house.” Malik is also alleged to have called Yolanda Hadid a “f***ing Dutch slut” and demanded that she “stay away from [my] f—ing daughter.”
The on-again off-again couple first split in March 2018 after just under two years together. In 2019 they secretly rekindled their love and Hadid subsequently fell pregnant. The couple share 13-month-old daughter, Khai.
The former One Direction star denied all allegations of abuse last week in a tweet.
In a snippet, he wrote, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press. I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
Hadid has remained silent on the matter. “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time,” a rep for Gigi told People on Thursday, local time.
Her sister, Bella, shared a cryptic message on Instagram stories on October 28 seemingly pertaining to the scandal.
“I can do nothing for you but work on myself. You can do nothing for me but work on yourself,” the caption read.
