“It’s not every day a 15-year-old black girl with dreads gets elected to be the Chanel ambassador,” mused Willow Smith on Tuesday as she and her actor father Will Smith attended the Chanel Haute Couture show at Grand Palais. But unlike the French house’s other millennial model Lily Rose Depp, Smith has been making her own (eclectic) mark on the music world for years.

Dropping her impressive debut LP, Ardipithecus in December 2015 – a follow up to the critically acclaimed EP 3 – the teenager then released a slew of loose tracks, all different in sound ranging in simple synth layers with producer (and actor) Michael Cera in twentyfortyeight 2.0 to a piano ballad with Cera in ohNadine. Prior to that was the self-produced single Susside and the AzZi-produced track JIMI recorded in New York City when Smith was just 12-years-old. (Trivia: Los Angeles based AzZi helped Smith’s brother Jaden with his music debut offering, The Cool Café mix tape, in 2012. The producer was introduced to the Smith family through older half-brother Trey whom he was in same grade in school.)

Now, the chameleon is trudging through the archives again sharing her unreleased track F Q – C #3 – V3 to SoundCloud. Captioned “Oldie But Goodie // LOVE digging into the archives :)”, Willow – or WILOUGH – produced the track herself. Unlike anything you will hear from Smith – or any 15-year-old – the track is atmospheric (a la part of her collaboration with Tyler Cole in recent song TnGwee#3) and crisply showcases her incredible vocal range. Take a listen.
